This month was a very big one in the history of the farm. Following completion of the various new farm buildings, Paul Schlechter joined as us Farm Manager.
Paul and his wife Cornelia and their three kids, Nelita, Evette & Jan-Herman, moved into their newly constructed farm house a few weeks ago.
Horses, a Great Dane, 5 Cats, a Parakeet and a Meerkat!
In addition to the immediate family, the Schlechters are accompanied by three beautiful Appaloosa horses, Leeu the meerkat, Liquorice the Great Dane, five cats, and a parakeet or two!
From the very first day I met the Schlechter’s I knew the fit was perfect – Paul has over 30 years of farming experience, a love for the land, a passion for Rooibos, a great sense of humour, and super green fingers.
Both Paul and Cornelia’s family’s come from the region. Cornelia grew up in the Nieuwoudt family which has been synonymous with the Cederberg for generations.
Paul’s technical knowledge and decade of Rooibos experience has already approved invaluable as we develop a wide range of organic farming, environmental and staff plans for Klipopmekaar.
I feel certain this is the beginning of a very long working relationship and friendship for me and the wonderful Schlechter family.
