Rooibos farmers near Clanwilliam are in the process of clearing close to 2 000 hectares of alien vegetation in the Olifants River rain catchment area.

After an incredibly dry period from 2010 to 2012, we can now finally celebrate – because heavy rains have landed in the Cederberg, and that’s very good news for our rooibos crop!

Changes in the way that rooibos producers market themselves, and meet consumer demand, are afoot, with the SA Rooibos Council among leading voices for the changes.

Local scientists are investigating whether or not rooibos can have benefits in restoring or reversing the effects of ageing.
